Commercial Metal Roofing

Metal Roofing is the Best Investment for Virginia Bank

Overview

Ridge View Bank, a local Virginia bank, recently constructed a new branch in Salem, VA. They chose an eye-catching design anchored by KasselWood steel roofing. The durable, beautiful, and high-performance roofing resulted in a successful project and a smooth introduction to the community.

Outcome

John T. Morgan Roofing installed KasselWood in Aged Cedar on the steeply pitched, 12:12 roof in combination with a flat TPO roofing section. The new bank is crowned with a beautiful metal roof, complimenting the exterior and meshing well with the neighborhood.

Impact

The new roof ties the building’s aesthetic together and helps achieve the designer’s desired look. Also, the Kynar®-coated steel panels provide a long-lasting barrier against the elements, protecting the bank for years to come.

Benefits

  • Beauty/style/visual appeal
  • Longevity/durability
  • High-quality materials

Ridge View Bank is new to the Roanoke Valley and committed to being a “personal financial partner helping you grow your business.” As a division of CNB Bank, which serves the Midwest and Northeastern US, Ridge View Bank is focused on community first. The Right Roof: Designed and Built to Last

Along with the new brand and location, Ridge View wanted a fresh look for the Salem branch. Being right on Main Street in downtown Salem influenced the style heavily. To achieve their vision, Ridge View hired local architect Balzer & Associates to craft a fitting design for the semi-urban setting.

“It was important to find a roof residential in character but commercial in scale. Also, the neighborhood has several historical buildings, so we wanted to be sensitive to the overall impression.” -James Ruhland III, Balzer & Associates.

Besides the appearance, the new roof needed to be a long-lasting solution. Ruhland said, “We had high expectations for durability and quality of materials.” The entire project was designed and built to last; the roof could be no exception. The Kynar®-coated, galvanized steel played a major role in protecting the building, and Kasselwood’s lifetime warranty ensures the roof will last.

A Challenging Installation

John T. Morgan Roofing rose to the challenge, integrating Kasselwood steel panels with flat TPO roofing for a united, leak-free roofing system. Before installing the metal roof, crews added two layers of insulation, then plywood sheathing. Next, they laid down synthetic underlayment beneath the Aged Cedar KasselWood.

“Our installation crew did a fantastic job on this complex roof system on a 12:12 pitch. It was a new product for all of us, and there were some challenging details, but our guys did a great job, and in the end, the KasselWood shingles look beautiful”
– Matthew Shelor, President of John T. Morgan.

After the success of this project, a planned second location will open in Virginia, mirroring the original design. Both are slated to open in 2023, with the next in the latter half of the year.

Shelor said, “John T. Morgan has been around for almost 90 years, and we’ve worked with many products and companies. Besides a great product, the support and people at Kassel & Irons really set them apart. We look forward to working with them again very soon!”
